Procurement Officer
A commercial fit-out company is seeking a Procurement Officer with electrical and construction experience to join their team based in Kildare.
As Procurement Officer you will oversee the purchasing of electrical equipment required for allocated projects ensuring they are available as per project scheduling requirements. You will ensure that the company is acquiring top-quality goods at the best cost available. One of the responsibilities of the role will be to manage supplier relationships, ensuring that supplier performance is maintained and when required identify new potential suppliers. You will spearhead all supplier negotiations for your allocated category of electrical goods. Additionally, you will liaise regularly with colleagues from various departments including estimators and accounts payable to ensure quotations match the company expectations and any invoice queries are rectified in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of exposure to electrical and construction environments with 3 years within a purchasing position. Relevant third-level qualifications or equivalent are essential. You will be compensated with a competitive salary along with benefits such as pension contribution and onsite parking. You will work a schedule of 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the purchasing requirements for allocated projects
- Process purchase orders for electrical goods and services
- Continue professional development relating to electrical product knowledge
- Manage supplier relationships
- Spearhead supplier negotiations while identifying opportunities to reduce cost while maintaining quality
- Carry out regular market and processes trends, provide insight to management
- Ensure quality expectations are met and goods are delivered in a timely manner
- Oversee goods in and goods out
- Identify potential suppliers
- Overcome any issues as they arise relating to the supply chain
- Liaise with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of projects, including Estimators and Accounts Payable
- Additional tasks as required
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience within the Construction or Engineering sectors
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a purchasing position
- Third-level qualification or equivalent within a related field
- Ability to prioritise as per deadline requirements while maintaining the quality of work
- Strong proficiency in MS suite- Excel
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
