The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the transport function, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods. This role is central to the organisation's success, particularly in maintaining customer satisfaction and ensuring that service levels are met within tight deadlines. Working closely with internal teams, including logistics, warehousing, and procurement, this role is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to make a meaningful impact within a thriving sector.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily transport operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
• Lead and motivate a team of drivers, transport coordinators, and other staff to achieve department goals.
• Oversee fleet management, including vehicle maintenance, legal compliance, and route optimisation.
• Develop and implement transport strategies that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure full compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, including driver hours, vehicle weights, and maintenance standards.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with senior management to align transport operations with wider business objectives.
• Maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
• Handle any transport-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to service.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a transport management role, ideally within the FMCG sector.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation, including compliance and safety standards.
• Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Experience in fleet management and vehicle maintenance scheduling.
• Demonstrable experience in route planning and optimisation.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders.
• Proficient in the use of transport management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
• Full clean driving licence.
