Buyer
Leading player in the engineering and manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its procurement team in Finglas. This role presents a compelling opportunity for a procurement professional to make a real impact by streamlining purchasing operations, strengthening supplier relationships, and supporting the wider supply chain function. The Buyer will take ownership of sourcing activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services critical to operational continuity.
Operating in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will work closely with internal departments and external suppliers to meet production and project timelines. The position is well-suited to a proactive individual who enjoys multitasking and problem-solving, and who is motivated by achieving savings and efficiencies. With a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and supplier performance, this role will be both challenging and rewarding for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Raise and manage purchase orders in alignment with production schedules and business needs
- Coordinate with suppliers to confirm order details, lead times, and delivery expectations
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast procurement requirements
- Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to secure favourable terms
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to plan and support sourcing for ongoing and new projects
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service level agreements with suppliers
- Maintain accurate procurement records and update ERP systems regularly
- Evaluate supplier performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and implement procurement best practices
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and relevant regulations
Requirements:
- Experience in a buying or procurement role
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Understanding of supply chain operations and procurement procedures
- Relevant third-level qualification in business, supply chain, or related discipline (preferred)
- Experience within the manufacturing or engineering industry advantageous
