Warehouse Operations Manager
Prominent player in the distribution industry is seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee its high-volume distribution centre in South Dublin. This role offers the opportunity to lead operational excellence across warehouse functions, drive team performance, support strategic growth objectives in a dynamic fast-paced environment and play a key part in the digital transformation of the warehouse environment.
This is a unique opportunity to join a business that is undertaking a major transition from manual, paper-based systems to a fully digitised warehouse operation using handheld scanners and integrated systems. You will be instrumental in leading the implementation and adoption of this new technology, improving data accuracy, real-time tracking and overall warehouse efficiency. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and customer service. With a focus on continuous improvement, this position is well-suited to a people-oriented leader who thrives on developing teams, implementing lean practices and managing KPIs to deliver operational targets.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all daily warehouse operations, including goods-in, storage, pick/pack, and dispatch
- Manage and develop a team of supervisors and operatives, ensuring high performance and strong staff engagement
- Oversee the transition from paper-based processes to handheld scanning systems, ensuring seamless integration and staff training
- Collaborate with IT and systems teams to ensure successful rollout and ongoing optimisation of new warehouse technologies
- Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to identify areas of improvement and implement lean, cost-effective solutions
- Ensure strict adherence to health & safety standards and maintain a safe working environment
- Manage inventory control, including cycle counting and reconciliation processes
- Drive efficiency in space utilisation, layout planning, and material flow
- Liaise cross-functionally with transport, supply chain, and customer service teams to ensure fulfilment accuracy and timeliness
- Manage warehouse budgets, control costs, and support wider business strategies through continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
- Experience in a warehouse or logistics leadership role, preferably in a high-volume environment
- Proven ability to lead operational change, especially in systems implementation or process automation
- Strong experience with WMS platforms and handheld scanning technology
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate teams
- A practical understanding of lean warehousing and continuous improvement practices
- Deep knowledge of health and safety compliance within warehousing and distribution
- Budget management experience and a focus on financial efficiency
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration with IT, transport, and customer operations
- A qualification in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is desirable
