Rigid Driver

A leading global FMCG distribution company is looking for a reliable and motivated Rigid Truck Driver to join their team. This role offers a great blend of independence, responsibility and the opportunity to represent a recognised brand while out on the road each day. It’s an excellent fit for someone seeking long-term, steady work, who appreciates a consistent roster and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service. To apply, you’ll need a valid Category C licence as well as up-to-date CPC and digital tachograph cards.

Your working day will normally start at 05:00am at the distribution depot, where you’ll complete a pre-drive safety inspection - typically a 30‑minute process. Your Rigid truck will already be loaded, usually with 15 drops scheduled for that day. You’ll carry out each delivery safely, professionally and efficiently before finishing your shift. Once your route is completed, your day is done - there’s no requirement to return for extra loads. The weekly roster operates on a five‑days‑from‑seven basis and may include every second weekend, offering both structure and flexibility.

Previous multi‑drop experience is helpful but not essential; newly qualified drivers are very welcome to apply. A current Category C licence, CPC and digital tachograph card are mandatory.

To ensure you settle into the role comfortably, you’ll take part in a two‑week induction programme. This includes time on the road with an experienced driver to learn the routes, understand daily processes, become confident using the handheld device and gain a clear understanding of the customer service standards expected.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily vehicle safety inspections
• Carry out up to 15 accurate, safe multi-drop deliveries
• Handle all goods responsibly and safely at each customer stop
• Drive in full compliance with company standards and road safety legislation
• Use handheld technology to scan, record and confirm deliveries
• Provide friendly, reliable, customer-focused service at every point of contact

Requirements

• Full, valid Category C licence
• Up-to-date CPC and digital tachograph card
• Ability to pass a company driving assessment
• Fit to complete routine workplace health screening
• Multi-drop experience is an advantage but not essential
• Reliable, organised, proactive and confident in problem-solving
