Evening Warehouse Supervisor

Thriving logistics provider is seeking a reliable and safety‑driven Evening Warehouse Supervisor to lead and support their evening warehouse team. This role is central to keeping freight moving smoothly during the evening shift, ensuring accuracy, momentum and a consistently high standard of operational performance. You will bring previous experience supervising or managing a warehouse team, along with a valid counterbalance forklift licence and up‑to‑date manual handling training.

You will oversee the flow of goods through the warehouse, maintaining control of space, allocating tasks and ensuring the team remains productive and focused during peak evening activity. You’ll lead by example — hands‑on, organised and calm under pressure — supporting staff while also stepping in with practical solutions when shipments arrive, delays occur or priorities shift. This position suits someone who takes pride in running a tight, efficient warehouse and can make confident decisions without constant supervision.

You will coordinate loading and unloading. You will ensure all freight is handled correctly and that the warehouse stays safe, organised and well structured. You’ll manage inbound and outbound workflow and oversee stock accuracy through regular system checks. You will also work on improving layout, processes and overall performance during the evening shift. Your role will be key to maintaining efficiency, safety and strong communication across the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate and support the warehouse team during the evening shift to maintain steady workflow and high performance.
  • Oversee the movement, loading and unloading of freight, ensuring all goods are handled safely, accurately and efficiently.
  • Allocate tasks, manage workload distribution and ensure team members stay focused and productive throughout the shift.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and well‑organised warehouse environment, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
  • Manage inbound freight from arrival through to processing, recording and storage.
  • Oversee outbound loading, ensuring trailers are prepared correctly and dispatch schedules are met.
  • Operate a counterbalance forklift when required to support workflow or assist the team.
  • Communicate clearly with management, drivers and team members to maintain smooth shift operations.
  • Ensure staff adhere to company procedures, safety standards and daily operational expectations.

Requirements:

  • Previous Supervisory experience in a warehouse, freight, or logistics environment
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including goods handling and loading procedures.
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential).
  • Up‑to‑date Manual Handling Certificate (essential).
  • Confident leading a team, delegating tasks and maintaining pace during busy evening operations.
  • Comfortable with physical work, including lifting, pallet handling and assisting the team when required.
  • Competent with scanners or basic warehouse computer systems for stock control and data input.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to remain calm, clear and assertive under pressure.
