Warehouse & Yard Operative

Warehouse & Yard Operative needed for an industrial materials supplier based in Palmerstown. This is a hands-on role within a small, experienced team, supporting both warehouse and yard operations in a busy but well-organised environment. 

The company supplies products to customers across Ireland and operates from a controlled yard and warehouse facility. This position plays a key role in the storage, handling, processing and dispatch of steel products, ensuring orders are completed efficiently and safely.

You will be involved in heavy manual handling, putting stock away, picking customer orders and loading/unloading materials using forklifts.  You will work closely with a team of 4–5 staff, reporting directly to management, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of operations. A strong work ethic, good safety awareness and a willingness to get involved across all areas of the yard and warehouse are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Heavy lifting and manual handling of steel products
• Putting stock away and maintaining organised storage areas
• Picking and preparing customer orders for dispatch
• Operating forklifts including counterbalance and side loader
• Loading and unloading deliveries and collections
• Cutting steel to specification (band saw training provided)
• Supporting general warehouse and yard duties as required
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure efficient operations
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised yard and warehouse
• Adhering to all health and safety procedures

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a warehouse or yard environment
• Valid manual handling certificate
• Forklift experience (counterbalance essential; side loader an advantage)
• Ability to carry out heavy manual handling duties
• Willingness to learn steel cutting and band saw operation
• Strong attention to health and safety
• Reliable, punctual and team-oriented attitude
• Ability to work in a practical, hands-on role
