Procurement Manager
Excellent opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to join an established building merchant. Managing a team of five across procurement and inventory, you will take responsibility for purchasing, supplier management, stock optimisation and continuous improvement.
This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially focused procurement professional who can develop strong supplier relationships, negotiate competitive terms and ensure the right stock is available to support the business. Experience within building materials, construction products, builders’ merchants, wholesale or distribution would be highly advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of five across procurement and inventory.
- Manage purchasing activities and ensure appropriate stock availability.
- Negotiate supplier pricing, commercial terms, lead times and service levels.
- Develop strong relationships with key suppliers and monitor performance.
- Work with the inventory team to optimise stock levels and reduce excess inventory.
- Analyse purchasing and inventory data to identify savings and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor market conditions, pricing and supply chain risks.
- Work closely with sales, operations, finance and warehouse teams.
- Develop and monitor procurement and inventory KPIs.
- Drive continuous improvement across procurement and stock management processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager, Senior Buyer or similar role.
- Previous experience managing and developing a team.
- Strong supplier negotiation and commercial management skills.
- Good understanding of inventory management, forecasting and stock control.
- Experience within building materials, construction, wholesale or distribution is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercially focused with a proactive approach to cost savings and continuous improvement.
- Relevant procurement or supply chain qualifications would be advantageous.
