Procurement Lead – Progression to Procurement Manager

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Lead to join an established business based in Dublin 10. This is a key position within the procurement function and offers a genuine opportunity for an ambitious procurement professional with proven people management experience to take the next step towards a Procurement Manager role.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading and developing a team of five people, while playing an important role in procurement strategy, supplier management, commercial negotiations and continuous improvement. The position requires someone who can combine strong hands-on procurement expertise with effective people leadership and stakeholder management. The role will initially be five days per week on-site in Dublin 10, providing the opportunity to build strong relationships across the business and fully understand its operations. Following six months, there will be the option to move to a hybrid working arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a procurement team of five, providing clear direction, support and ongoing coaching.
• Take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the procurement team, ensuring priorities and objectives are clearly understood.
• Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies aligned with wider business requirements.
• Manage key supplier relationships and develop strong, commercially focused partnerships.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers across pricing, commercial terms, service levels and contractual agreements.
• Identify and deliver opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance and improved commercial value.
• Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs, service levels and commercial expectations.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand current and future procurement requirements.
• Develop strong working relationships across operations, finance, supply chain and other key business functions.
• Manage sourcing activities including supplier identification, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and implementation.
• Review procurement processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, governance and commercial performance.
• Support effective contract management and ensure supplier agreements continue to provide appropriate value to the business.
• Analyse procurement data, expenditure and market information to identify opportunities and support informed decision-making.
• Provide procurement expertise and commercial guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Manage multiple procurement projects and priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and delivery.
• Develop the capabilities of the procurement team through coaching, feedback, performance management and knowledge sharing.
• Encourage a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
• Prepare procurement reports, commercial insights and recommendations for senior management.
• Take increasing ownership of the procurement function and demonstrate the leadership capabilities required to progress into a Procurement Manager position.

Requirements

• Significant experience within procurement, purchasing, strategic sourcing or a related commercial environment.
• Proven people management experience, with the ability to successfully lead and develop a team.
• Previous experience managing, mentoring or coaching procurement or purchasing professionals.
• Strong supplier relationship and vendor management experience.
• Proven commercial negotiation skills with experience delivering positive outcomes with suppliers.
• Experience developing or implementing procurement and sourcing strategies.
• Strong understanding of supplier selection, tendering, contract negotiation and contract management.
• Demonstrable experience identifying and delivering procurement savings and efficiencies.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost, quality, service and operational requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to communicate and influence across different levels of a business.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach to procurement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The confidence to make decisions, challenge where appropriate and take ownership of procurement activities.
• A leadership style focused on developing people, improving performance and creating accountability.
• The ambition and capability to progress into a Procurement Manager position.
• Relevant procurement qualifications, such as CIPS, would be advantageous but are not essential where suitable experience can be demonstrated.
• Availability to work five days on-site in Dublin 10 for the first six months, with the option for hybrid working thereafter.
