This organisation specialises in the maintenance and repair of HGV articulated trailers, delivering high-quality technical services to a loyal and longstanding customer base. With decades of industry presence, the business continues to invest in both its people and infrastructure, offering a stable and progressive working environment.

Working as part of a collaborative workshop team, the Trailer Fitter will play a key role in ensuring fleet reliability and customer satisfaction. The position involves hands-on technical work across multiple trailer components and systems, contributing to both preventative maintenance and reactive repair activities. Flexibility is required, as the role operates Monday to Saturday, with occasional Saturday work expected.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, service, and repair HGV trailers to a high maintenance standard and in accordance with manufacturer recommendations
  • Diagnose and work on key systems including air braking systems, axles, brake systems, and suspension systems
  • Carry out routine maintenance and preventative servicing of HGV trailers
  • Fit and retrofit components to trailer axles and bodies as required
  • Participate in scheduled training programmes to enhance technical skills and knowledge
  • Support quality initiatives and ensure all work meets high safety and performance standards
  • Contribute to maintaining workshop facilities, tools, and equipment in excellent condition
  • Deliver a high level of customer service through quality workmanship and attention to detail
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a mechanic or fitter role, ideally within HGVs or trailers
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to completing work to a high standard
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training and development
  • Basic computer or mobile device literacy is advantageous
  • Positive attitude with a proactive and reliable approach to work

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to join a reputable organisation within the transport maintenance sector. The role offers not only competitive pay but also a clear pathway for progression, making it ideal for candidates looking to build a long-term career in trailer maintenance and engineering.
