Warehouse Supervisor Evening Shift

 Warehouse Supervisor required to support and guide an evening shift team. This role is essential to keeping freight moving efficiently throughout the evening, maintaining accuracy, momentum and consistently high operational standards.

You’ll have proven leadership capabilities to supervise a small warehouse teams, along with a valid counterbalance forklift licence and up‑to‑date manual handling certification.

You will oversee the entire flow of goods through the warehouse managing space, assigning tasks and ensuring productivity during busy evening periods. You will lead from the front: hands‑on, organised and calm under pressure. When delays arise, shipments arrive unexpectedly or priorities shift, you’ll step in with practical solutions to keep operations running smoothly. This role suits someone who takes pride in maintaining a disciplined, efficient warehouse and can make confident decisions independently.

You’ll coordinate loading and unloading activities, ensuring all freight is handled correctly and maintaining a safe, well‑organised warehouse environment. You will manage inbound and outbound workflows, maintain stock accuracy through regular system checks and drive continuous improvement in layout, processes and workflow throughout the evening shift. Your leadership will be central to ensuring efficiency, safety and strong communication across the team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervise and guide the evening warehouse team, ensuring operations run smoothly and workflow remains consistent.
  • Monitor all freight activities, including receipt, loading and unloading, making sure goods are handled safely, correctly and on schedule.
  • Distribute duties effectively, balancing workloads and keeping the team motivated and productive throughout the shift.
  • Uphold a safe, tidy and well‑maintained warehouse, ensuring all safety rules and operational standards are followed at all times.
  • Oversee the full inbound process, from delivery arrival to documentation, checking and correct storage of goods.
  • Manage outgoing freight, ensuring trailers are loaded to specification and all dispatch deadlines are met.
  • Provide hands‑on support with forklift operations when needed to maintain momentum or assist team members.
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors, drivers and team members to ensure seamless coordination across the evening shift.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, safety requirements and daily operational guidelines across the team.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Previous supervisory experience within a warehouse, freight or logistics environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations, including safe goods handling and loading procedures.
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential).
  • Up‑to‑date Manual Handling Certificate (essential).
  • Proven ability to lead a team, delegate effectively and maintain pace during busy evening operations.
  • Comfortable with physical duties, including lifting, pallet movement and hands‑on support when required.
  • Competent using scanners and basic warehouse systems for stock control, tracking and data entry.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to stay calm, clear and assertive when under pressure.
