Procurement Manager – Building Supplies
Opportunity = for an experienced Procurement Manager to join a well-established and growing organisation within the building supplies sector based in Dublin 22. This is a key leadership position responsible for driving procurement strategy, supplier performance and stock availability while leading a small but experienced purchasing team of four. You will play a vital role in supporting business growth by ensuring products are sourced competitively, supplier relationships are strengthened and purchasing processes continue to evolve.
This position would suit a commercially focused procurement professional with experience within building materials, construction products, merchanting, manufacturing or a similar fast-moving environment. The role requires someone who can balance strategic sourcing with day-to-day operational management while building strong relationships across sales, operations, warehousing and finance. Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of four procurement professionals.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that support business objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, trading terms, contracts and supplier agreements.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or service.
- Monitor supplier performance through agreed KPIs and service level agreements.
- Ensure stock availability while optimising inventory levels and reducing excess stock.
- Work closely with sales, operations and warehouse teams to accurately forecast demand.
- Source new suppliers and products to support commercial growth.
- Analyse purchasing trends, market conditions and commodity movements.
- Manage supplier performance reviews and resolve supply chain issues proactively.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and commercial standards.
- Produce regular procurement reports covering spend analysis, supplier performance and savings achieved.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain processes.
- Develop contingency plans to minimise supply disruptions and business risk.
- Manage budgets and purchasing expenditure in line with company objectives.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ERP system data.
- Drive efficiencies through improved procurement processes and best practice.
- Collaborate with senior management on strategic purchasing decisions.
- Ensure excellent service is delivered to both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager or Senior Buyer.
- Previous experience managing or mentoring procurement teams.
- Experience within the building supplies, construction, manufacturing, engineering or related sector would be highly desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and deliver measurable cost savings.
- Excellent understanding of inventory management and purchasing principles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret purchasing data and market trends.
- Experience using ERP or purchasing systems together with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Results-driven with a continuous improvement mindset.
