This is a unique opportunity to join a business that is undertaking a major transition from manual, paper-based systems to a fully digitised warehouse operation using handheld scanners and integrated systems. You will be instrumental in leading the implementation and adoption of this new technology, improving data accuracy, real-time tracking and overall warehouse efficiency. You’re a  people-oriented, hands-on leader who thrives in transformation and continuous improvement environments.

You will be responsible for ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and customer service. With a focus on continuous improvement, this position is well-suited to a people-oriented leader who thrives on developing teams, implementing lean practices and managing KPIs to deliver operational targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all daily warehouse operations, including goods-in, storage, pick/pack, and dispatch
  • Manage and develop a team of supervisors and operatives, ensuring high performance and strong staff engagement
  • Oversee the transition from paper-based processes to handheld scanning systems, ensuring seamless integration and staff training
  • Collaborate with IT and systems teams to ensure successful rollout and ongoing optimisation of new warehouse technologies
  • Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to identify areas of improvement and implement lean, cost-effective solutions
  • Ensure strict adherence to health & safety standards and maintain a safe working environment
  • Manage inventory control, including cycle counting and reconciliation processes
  • Drive efficiency in space utilisation, layout planning, and material flow
  • Liaise cross-functionally with transport, supply chain, and customer service teams to ensure fulfilment accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage warehouse budgets, control costs, and support wider business strategies through continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Experience in a warehouse or logistics leadership role, preferably in a high-volume environment
  • Proven ability to lead operational change, especially in systems implementation or process automation
  • Strong experience with WMS platforms and handheld scanning technology
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate teams
  • A practical understanding of lean warehousing and continuous improvement practices
  • Deep knowledge of health and safety compliance within warehousing and distribution
  • Budget management experience and a focus on financial efficiency
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with IT, transport, and customer operations
  • A qualification in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is desirable
