Warehouse and Yard Operative

 

Warehouse and Yard Operative needed for trade supply operation based in Tallaght. The business services trade and construction customers daily and operates at high volume, with a strong focus on picking, loading and dispatching building materials across the site. Previous experience in a builders’ providers, construction supply yard, or on a building site is essential. All applicants must hold a valid counterbalance forklift licence and a manual handling certificate.

 

The role involves working across both the warehouse and outdoor yard as part of a team of seven operatives. Working hours are Monday to Friday on either a 7:00am–4:00pm or 8:00am–5:00pm shift, based on site requirements, for a 39‑hour week. Overtime is available, including every second Saturday from 8:00am to 12:30pm, paid at time and a half.

 

You will be involved in the day‑to‑day movement of heavy building materials across the warehouse and yard. You will pick customer orders from order sheets, prepare materials for collection, and load customer and company vehicles.  You will load construction and building materials either manually or using a counterbalance forklift. You will deal directly with trade customers such as builders and contractors on site, ensuring orders are picked correctly, vehicles are loaded efficiently, and work flows smoothly through the yard during busy periods.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Pick customer orders accurately from order sheets
• Load and unload building materials onto customer and company vehicles
• Operate a counterbalance forklift in the warehouse and outdoor yard
• Move stock safely and efficiently around the site
• Prepare materials for customer collection and internal deliveries
• Work across both warehouse and yard areas as required
• Deal directly with trade customers during collections
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised yard and warehouse

 

 

Requirements:

 

• Previous experience in a builders’ providers, trade supply yard, or on a building site
• Experience handling building materials in a physical, fast‑paced environment
• Valid counterbalance forklift licence
• Valid manual handling certificate
• Comfortable working in an outdoor yard in all weather conditions
• Physically fit and capable of regular lifting and manual handling
• Confident dealing directly with trade customers and contractors
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
