Inventory Controller

Opportunity for an Inventory Controller to join a leading specialist distributor of construction materials and building solutions based in Dublin 10. Supplying premium products to the commercial, residential and infrastructure sectors, the business has built a strong reputation for quality, reliability and customer service. Due to continued growth, an experienced inventory professional is required to take ownership of stock accuracy, improve inventory processes and support the wider supply chain function.

This is far more than a traditional stock control position. The successful candidate will work closely with the Procurement team, Warehouse Operations and Suppliers to ensure inventory is accurate, available and managed efficiently. Your someone who enjoys identifying problems, analysing data and implementing long-term improvements rather than simply maintaining day-to-day stock records. Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of inventory accuracy across the business.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies and identify root causes.
  • Carry out detailed stock investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage cycle counting programmes and support full stock takes.
  • Analyse inventory reports and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and implement new inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvements to warehouse and stock management processes.
  • Work closely with Procurement to maintain optimum stock levels.
  • Assist with forecasting and replenishment planning.
  • Support purchasing activities and supplier communication where required.
  • Monitor slow-moving and obsolete stock.
  • Produce KPI reports relating to stock accuracy, inventory performance and availability.
  • Ensure ERP/WMS inventory data remains accurate and up to date.
  • Liaise with warehouse teams to improve stock handling procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiencies and maximise stock availability.
  • Support system upgrades and inventory-related projects.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Inventory Controller, Stock Controller, Inventory Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong experience investigating stock discrepancies and resolving inventory issues.
  • Experience implementing or improving stock control systems and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles.
  • Previous experience using ERP or Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills would be highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
  • A proactive approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience within construction materials, builders' merchants, manufacturing, engineering or distribution would be advantageous.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within procurement and supply chain.
