Rigid Driver (Full EU C Licence)

Established and reputable distribution business based in North Dublin is seeking an experienced or newly qualified Rigid Drivers to join a busy and professional transport operation. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering stability, competitive earnings and a structured working environment. The role operates on a five days over seven rota, providing flexibility while ensuring consistent weekly hours. The annual salary of €47,000 reflects the level of responsibility and physical commitment required.

This position is ideally suited to a professional driver who values organisation, routine, and delivering excellent service standards. Each truck is pre-loaded prior to departure from the depot and every order is clearly numbered per drop to support efficiency throughout the day. Before leaving the depot each morning, approximately 40 minutes must be dedicated to setting out deliveries in a logical sequence. This preparation is essential to ensure the day runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Attention to detail and forward planning are key to success in this role.

The company places strong emphasis on employee wellbeing and long-term retention. Employees also benefit from a discount on company products and a tax-free meal allowance to support daily expenses. After 12 months of service, access to a company pension scheme is available, reinforcing commitment to long-term career development.

The interview process is thorough and designed to ensure high driving and safety standards are maintained. Candidates must successfully complete a pass-or-fail driving assessment. Those who meet the required standard will then attend a face-to-face interview with the Transport Manager. In addition, a health screening questionnaire must be completed to confirm fitness and capability to carry out the day-to-day duties associated with rigid vehicle operations.

This is a physically demanding role requiring a high level of stamina and manual handling capability. Deliveries involve lifting, carrying and manoeuvring boxes from the vehicle into customer premises. Applicants must be comfortable with regular physical activity throughout the working day and committed to safe manual handling practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a rigid vehicle in compliance with road traffic legislation and company procedures
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly

  • Provide professional and courteous customer service at all delivery points
  • Lift, carry, pull and manoeuvre boxes from the truck into customer locations
  • Maintain accurate delivery documentation and obtain proof of delivery
  • Adhere strictly to tachograph regulations and working time directives
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines at depot and customer premises

Requirements:

  • Full EU Category C driving licence
  • Valid CPC qualifications (up to date)
  • Valid digital tachograph card
  • Proven experience driving a right-hand steer vehicle on the left-hand side of the road
  • Experience driving in Ireland, the UK, or another country where driving is on the left-hand side is the norm
  • Candidates without left-side driving experience are strongly advised to complete driving lessons in advance of the driving assessment
  • Strong understanding of road safety and compliance requirements
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out demanding manual handling duties
  • Reliable, punctual and organised with strong time management skills
  • Professional attitude and commitment to high service standards

This opportunity offers long-term stability within a structured transport environment.
