Rigid Driver
Global FMCG distribution leader is seeking a dedicated Rigid Driver to join their team, offering a role that combines independence, responsibility and the chance to represent a well‑known brand on the road each day. This position is ideal for someone who values long‑term stability, enjoys a flexible shift pattern and takes pride in representing a well‑known brand while out on the road. To be considered, you’ll need a valid Category C licence along with in‑date CPC and digital tachograph cards.
Your day begins at 05:30am at the distribution centre, where you’ll carry out a vehicle safety check, usually taking about 30 minutes. Your Rigid truck will be already pre‑loaded with 12 to 15 scheduled deliveries, ready for the road. Each delivery will be completed with care, efficiency and attention to safety. Once you finish your delivery route, your working day is complete. There’s no requirement to return for additional loads. The weekly rota runs on a five‑days‑out‑of‑seven schedule, which may include working every second weekend, offering the right balance of routine and flexibility.
While previous multi‑drop experience is an advantage, newly qualified Rigid drivers are encouraged to apply. All applicants must hold a current Category C licence, a valid CPC card and a digital tachograph card.
To help you settle in, you’ll take part in a two‑week onboarding programme that includes shadowing an experienced Rigid driver so you can learn the routes, understand the daily procedures, become confident with the handheld device and get to grips with the customer service expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough vehicle safety inspections each day
- Complete up to 15 accurate and careful multi‑drop deliveries
- Handle all goods safely at every customer stop
- Drive the vehicle responsibly and in accordance with company and road safety guidelines
- Use handheld technology to record and confirm deliveries
- Deliver dependable, friendly customer service on every route
Requirements:
- Hold a full, valid Category C driving licence
- Maintain an up‑to‑date CPC qualification and a current digital tachograph card
- Demonstrate the ability to pass a company driving assessment
- Be fit to complete a routine workplace health screening
- Prior multi‑drop delivery experience is beneficial, though not mandatory
- Reliable, organised and proactive with strong problem‑solving ability
